British American Tobacco: Now +R100. Strong Upside Reversal From Re-Entry Range

Trade British American Tobacco with Unum Capital.

Clients who have held BTI had done well. The original setup for the share was published just over a year ago at R531, with a strong rally seen over the course of 2024. This was followed by a pullback, upon which clients were alerted to a re-entry (See Note Below: Get Ready To Trade). Entering the current data, this is what the model now states:

Analyst's Price Action Model

What is the short-term price trend for British American Tobacco? The short-term trend is bullish with high momentum, approaching overbought territory.

What is the medium-term price trend for British American Tobacco? The medium-term trend is very strong and bullish. Buyers are in control, but don't chase the price. If it fails to hold the highs, the 8-EMA may be a short-sell target.

What is the long-term price trend for British American Tobacco? The long-term trend is also bullish. Aggressive buying is present, but don't chase. Look for an overshoot or failure to hold prior session range highs to short-sell back to the 8-EMA.

  • My model called for a pullback from overbought conditions, citing an unattractive reward-to-risk on the buy/long side.

  • Since then, the share has retreated from R690 to below R610

  • Next Best Probability Entry Range is shown below.

BTI has been a profitable medium term trading opportunity for clients of Unum Capital. At current levels, the high bullish momentum conditions benefit existing shareholders however, it may also be an opportunity to reduce into strength.
